These easy-to-maintain cotton sarees do not require regular starching or ironing. Generally a weaver takes 2-5 days to prepare a Begumpuri saree. Weavers use a pit loom or frame loom for weaving these sarees. Begumpuri sarees with dual colours, light-weight make are characterised by loosely woven coarse structure with a smooth feel and contrasting borders.. The production of handloom saris are important for economic development in rural India.Completion of a single sari takes two to three days of work. Several regions have their own traditions of handloom saris. The most traditional are made in West Bengal
